Energy Efficiency
serbian german english

“ENERGY IS A KEY PROBLEM OF THE FUTURE – A QUESTION OF LIFE AND DEATH. THE CURRENT ENERGY SOURCES ARE UNRELIABLE AND poisonous to the planet. we might survive poisoning, but there will come a day when these energy sources will dry up and vanish.”

    v

“my project may ensure energy for all purposes– CLEAN ENERGY”

    NIKOLA TESLA

One of the key existential problems of the mankind is the energy problem. Technical and technological development in the twentieth century was followed by the on-going need to increase electricity generation which doubled in the first half of the twentieth century. The energy security and stability have become the most popular issues of the entire global, economic and social system in recent years and thus the priority of preserving continuity of the sustainable development and environmental milieu.

The time of non-renewable energy sources and thus civilization as we know it today is ruthlessly running out. Energy efficiency is becoming a major concern. The electricity generation strategy is based on the generation which meets the consumption requirements. This means that generation is determined by consumption. However, wasteful consumption induces both unreasonably high generation and adverse environmental impact. The improved energy efficiency will result in reduced electricity consumption and adverse environmental effects thereby contributing to the global fight to combat climate changes.

In the energy sector, mechanisms to combat climate changes are a priority. In addition to energy efficiency, the strategic approach to this problem also involves orientation towards other, environmentally sound energy sources. In this respect, the introduction of renewable energy sources into the generation, transmission, distribution and consumption system and/or meeting the energy needs is a key component of sustainable development and implementation of economic, environmental and social objectives. Therefore, the promotion of renewable energy sources and energy efficiency primarily in terms of improving competitiveness, supply security and environmental protection level is of vital importance.

The increased electricity demand has caused the development of electricity generation technologies. As a result, today, there are five power plants: hydropower plants, thermal power plants, solar power plants, wind power plants and geothermal power plants.

Why have we chosen energy management?

    • Energy efficiency becomes a growing concern demonstrated by an exponential electricity consumption growth curve.

    • The current interest-dominated geopolitical situation, reduction of the global energy sources, ever growing electricity demand as well as the energy – related environmental impact contributed to the fact ENERGY, ECOLOGY AND EFFICIENCY become a universal problem for the mankind.

    • Even though fossil fuel based energy (coal, crude oil, petroleum products and gas) stands for 85% of the total global energy production, it has been discredited both in terms of adverse environmental impacts at the regional level and global warming as well as resulting climate changes.

    • The energy crises as well as the environmental impact of electricity generation and consumption create a need to bring further industrial development to environmentally friendly and acceptable level both in terms of volume and form.

    • Correlation between the energy sector and other economic sectors – a basis for the overall development of each country.

    • Transformation towards low-energy civilization is our chance to develop a new sustainable concept of energy strategy development.

    • "Green Economy" concept which involves the use of renewable energy sources (solar energy, wind energy, biomass etc.) and application of technologies based on reduced emission supports sustainable development.

    • In addition to energy efficiency and energy savings, renewable energy sources play a key role in any sustainable energy strategy targeted at: reasonable prices, availability in terms of sufficient quantities, and acceptability in terms of environmental protection.

    • Alternative electricity generation methods include renewable and distributed non-energy sources, while the concept of environmentally sound development requires a reduction of electricity losses, introduction of electricity-saving methods and devices, use of power electronic devices, computers and cutting-edge control algorithms and systems.

    • Integration of energy flows and resources contributes to the reduction of investment and operating costs of such systems.
